Massage Goes Corporate in OKC
Most people know massage is great way to relieve stress in our everyday lives, but what about the stress in the
workplace? Research has repeatedly shown that even a short massage received within the workday can increase
employee productivity, decrease fatigue and enhance concentration. Massage is great way for employers to say
"Thank You!" to employees. Hertz, AT&T, Good Shepherd Hospice and Oklahoma Heart Hospital are just a few
of the area companies that have already recognized the benefits of massage for their employees. As a massage therapist
it’s a quick way for you to increase your client base and increase your business. All you need is a massage chair
and you’ll be good to go.

Paying It Forward
Central State Beauty Academy participates in many charitable event in the OKC community year round.
We have two upcoming events for the Children’s Center in Bethany as well as the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
The Children’s Center has an annual bike run called "Spin Your Wheels" which is to be held August 9th from
9:30am - 2:00pm at the Center on NW 39th Expressway in OKC. "Light the Night" is another annual event sponsored
by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. This event will be held September 20th. Both our beauty and massage
students will be lending a hand for each event. Both CSBA and CSMA will donate 100% of proceeds received for
haircuts and chair massage on the Friday prior to each event. Mark you calendar for August 8th and September
19th and help us raise money for these great causes.

License Update
|
 |
Hey everyone! As many of you know, the Oklahoma City Massage License law has been updated.
Previously we understood that the effective date of the new law was to be May 1st '08 but I recently
found that the date was May 28th '08.
The best place to start this process is at the Oklahoma City/County health department at 921 N.E.
23rd phone 405-427-8651. Here you will pick up your licensure application packet. It includes specific
directions for completing the packet. If you are operating from a spa/salon, clinic, etc. the owner of
the facility must apply for the managers license and the therapist needs to apply for the operators license.
Licensing fees: Manager - $30.00 Operator - $24.00 Outcall - $30.00
Remember to save your receipts for taxes as licensure expenses!
